Dr Gavin Meehan is an Associate Scientific Director at RoukenBio, where he leads the company’s Autoimmunity Service - driving the development of advanced human primary cell in vitro models to support therapeutic innovation across autoimmune disease research. With a scientific career spanning pharmacology, virology, translational immunology and diagnostics Dr Meehan brings a uniquely broad perspective to immune‑targeted drug discovery.
With a PhD in neuroimmunology from the University of Glasgow and almost a decade of academic and industrial research Dr Meehan has worked on multiple autoimmune diseases included Guillain-Barré syndrome, multifocal motor neuropathy, scleroderma and rheumatoid arthritis. He has developed a particle interest in antibody characterisation, T cell biology and dendritic cell immunology.
As the leader of the Autoimmunity Team, he oversees the design and execution of cutting‑edge immune assays that support partners throughout the drug development pipeline. His team focuses on mechanistic immunology, functional T‑ and B‑cell responses, and bespoke model development tailored to autoimmune biology.
