Senior Study Manager

Dr Amanda McFarlane is a Senior Study Manager at RoukenBio, where she has led complex, multidisciplinary immunology research programmes since 2022, overseeing study design, technical strategy, and delivery across discovery and preclinical pipelines. She holds a PhD in Immunology and Infectious Disease from the University of Edinburgh, where her doctoral research focused on respiratory immune cell interactions during co-infections, combining advanced cellular profiling with functional immunological assays.

With over a decade of experience across immunology, infectious disease and cancer immunology, Dr McFarlane has developed deep expertise in translational research and immune mechanistic studies. At CRUK Scotland Institute, she specialised in dissecting the myeloid cell compartment and its functional role within the tumour microenvironment, applying high parameter immune phenotyping and functional analysis to understand cellular crosstalk and immunoregulation in cancer.

Amanda brings extensive technical proficiency in multicolour flow cytometry and immune cell profiling, and complex assay development tailored assays to investigate complex immune responses across diverse experimental systems. As a scientific leader, she provides technical oversight, mentors multidisciplinary teams, and ensures studies are executed with scientific rigour, reproducibility, and strategic alignment to customers objectives. Her combined technical depth and programme leadership enable the consistent delivery of high-quality data that inform critical decision-making in exploratory and preclinical research.
