Dr Gavin Meehan is an Associate Scientific Director at RoukenBio, where he leads the company’s Autoimmunity Service - driving the development of advanced human primary cell in vitro models to support therapeutic innovation across autoimmune disease research. With a scientific career spanning pharmacology, virology, translational immunology and diagnostics Dr Meehan brings a uniquely broad perspective to immune‑targeted drug discovery.
With a PhD in Neuroimmunology from the University of Glasgow, Dr Meehan has built extensive experience across both academia and industry since 2015. His work has spanned a range of autoimmune diseases, including Guillain-Barré syndrome, multifocal motor neuropathy, scleroderma, and rheumatoid arthritis. He has developed a particular interest in antibody characterisation, T cell biology and dendritic cell immunology.
As the leader of the Autoimmunity Team, he oversees the design and execution of cutting‑edge immune assays that support partners throughout the drug development pipeline. His team focuses on mechanistic immunology, functional T‑ and B‑cell responses, and bespoke model development tailored to autoimmune biology.
